Live Mercy
Hi, this is John Nemmer again. I would like to talk with you about mercy. Now, mercy is love’s second name, meaning you can’t forgive others (give mercy) without loving them first. That is what Jesus taught us. He said, “you should love everyone as you love yourself.” It doesn’t mean we have to like everyone but we have to pray and hope everyone goes to Heaven. I’m talking about all people who lived in the past, are living in the present, and will live in the future. No matter how young or old, how good or bad they are, we still have to love them all the same.
I know sometimes, it’s really hard to love and forgive others but, our Lord Jesus, did not hesitate to cry out for mercy, on the cross for his executioners. He said, “Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they do!” They whipped him, crowned him with thorns, forced him to carry his cross, and then, crucified him. He still cried out, for mercy, for every person he created, to his Heavenly Father.
In my life, when people offend me, I decide to forgive them all. So I know, sometimes it’s really hard to forgive others, but YOU yourself, also have done things that need forgiveness. We all have done that. It is just our human nature. Since the fall of man to the present day, all people have been at each other’s throats for sometimes angry pointless reasons. Mercy, love’s second name brings us back to God and others.
May the Divine Mercy, of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the help of the Holy Spirit, and the Glory of God the Father, be with you all. Amen!
