Christ in Christmas
Hi! This is John Nemmer again. I would like to talk with you about keeping Christ in Christmas. At Christmas time we remember how God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son to save us from our sins and offer us eternal life.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem of the Virgin Mary. Although He was the All Powerful God, He decided to be born in the humblest way. You see, Jesus could have been born in a castle and have all of the world come and worship Him. However instead, He chose to be born in a little manger within the silence of the night. Around Christmas time people usually get so stressed out because of the shopping, decorating, and the planning that they forget all about the true meaning of Christmas, which is Jesus.
He is the true reason for this season. There is nothing wrong with receiving gifts given in the true Spirit of Christmas. We should give gifts out of love, just like God the Father did. The Father willingly gave up His Own Son so we could be saved and have a relationship with Him. Can’t we have a humble Christmas this year, like the first one? Can’t we cut back on all of the shopping and decorating we do? If we truly keep Christ in Christmas in true simplicity and humility, He will be so happy with us.
I want to read you a short story before saying goodbye. I read this story on Facebook, and thought it would be perfect to put in this blog.
“T’was the night before Christmas, God glanced over the earth. He looked to and fro, all over its girth. “They missed it again.” He said with a sigh, a heavy heart and a tear in His eye. “I gave them my son, so they could be free. My greatest gift to them from me. They traded me in, for a man in red, a little tree, and horse drawn sled. How do I save them, and make them see? My love is complete, My grace is free. How do I help them, when all they know is a talking snowman, and a box with a bow. Maybe next year, they will stop and see the bigger gift of Christmas. Is the little child from Me?”
