My Favorite Prayer: The Mass
Hi! This is John Nemmer again. I would like to talk with you about The Holy Mass. It’s my favorite prayer. Now, The Mass is where we worship God, and Jesus Christ truly comes and dwells with us in The Eucharist. It’s the greatest prayer of our faith. We go to Mass every Sunday to give God thanks for everything He has done for us. At Mass, the same Jesus who suffered and died for our own sins is present. When the priest consecrates the bread and the wine, they become the living body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ.
The sacrifice of Calvary is the one sacrifice for all time. For by that one sacrifice, He has made perfect forever, the way for those who desire to be made holy. Through the Mass, God turns back time and The Passion, Death, and Resurrection of His Son is present in a hidden way. At the moment of consecration, all of Heaven is present and worshipping with us. All of the Angels and Saints are there adoring the living bread which came down from Heaven.
The same worship which continually happens in Heaven goes on in every Mass. How much we put into The Mass, will be how much we will get out of it. God wants you to offer Him your joy, your sorrow, your worries, your needs and wants, every time you go and celebrate Mass. Your angel carries up all of what you offer and gives it to The Father. The moment of sacrifice of the Mass is when the priest raises Jesus up after consecration and says, “Though Him, with Him, and in Him in the unity of The Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.” Then we sing The Great Amen.
The Mass is the greatest gift God can ever give us because of The Eucharist. God’s love is right under our noses but sometimes we forget it because of all the worries and distractions of life. When we go to Mass, we
should just offer what is troubling us to God and let Him take care of it. Let’s ask The Holy Spirit to make us more aware of what is truly happening in Mass so we can grow more in our burning love for Christ.
