Trusting God
Hi! This is John Nemmer again. I would like to share some thoughts with you.
Our lives have changed because of the Corona Virus. We are all in quarantine for the sake of our own health and the health of others. We haven’t been able to go to work, do family gatherings, or most importantly, physically go to Mass and receive Jesus in the Eucharist. It’s a sense of worry which is also in our minds right now…
"Will I get this virus and unknowingly spread it to somebody who is poor in health?"
"Will someone who I know get this and then they end up in the hospital?"
"Will a family member need to be hospitalized for a different reason and catch the Virus?”
I think a little worrying is good for us because it will make us to do something about the problem we are facing. For example, worrying will encourage doctors to create a vaccine for this virus. Although, we should never worry too much about anything that we become drowned in our own fear. We have to remember God is totally in control here. Sometimes He allows unfortunate things to happen to us all to either teach us something, or draw us even more close to Him, or have a greater good come out of it, or all of the above.
We just have to trust in Him in this difficult time. This time may seem like a storm to most people. Like St. Peter, Jesus is calling us out of the boat to walk on the waters of fear to Him. Jesus is calling us to trust in His own promise to never abandon us. He is also calling us to carry the cross of being quarantined with joy instead of with sorrow. We should always be joyful in both the joys and the sorrows of life. This life is very short and through His Resurrection, Jesus promised to share in His everlasting glory if we live faithfully to Him.
We have to place our total trust in God just like little children do with their parents, and then He will greatly bless us in this time of need. So let us turn to Him now with no fear but with all trust that He will take care of us. May the peace and joy of our Lord Jesus Christ, the help of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of God the Father be always with you all! Amen. Happy Easter!
